The 16^th Annual Cape Homemakers Expo promises to deliver exciting new projects that will have you feeling motivated to make those little changes to your own home.

If you love your home and are looking for the best ways to improve, there is no better starting place than the Cape Homemakers Expo. It takes place from 1 to 4 September at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). The Expo will showcase the latest trends through exhibits which range from home improvement products to innovative décor ideas for the home and garden.

The event will deliver a vast array of products and services for visitors to see, allowing them the opportunity to explore, compare and find solutions to their specific needs. The visitors will also get to see the latest trends and ideas as well as new ways of reviving old favourites in their household. 

Some new featured areas include:

• The latest cutting edge style in the Décor & Accessories area. This focused area will be presented for the third year in a row and specialises in contemporary décor and trends – it is bound to wet any decorating appetite.

• The brand new DIY Workshop feature area will be offering all sorts of handy tips. Industry experts will demonstrate, build, modify, repair, revamp and pimp just about anything relating to home improvement!

• Now in its 7^th year, the Sound Emporiumwill again offer the latest in home entertainment, sound distribution and digital imaging products. Visitors can also stimulate their taste buds at d'Vine Life, with a selection of excellent wines, great cheeses, olives and other gourmet goodies.

• The Future of Design, presented for the 6^th year in a row, will showcase the latest inUpcycling with some of South Africa’s top designers leading the way. Upcycling is the process of converting waste or useless materials into new products of better quality or higher environmental value. It is an even greener way of recycling – find a new purpose for your unwanted items before you chuck them away.

Another very exciting project at this year’s Cape Homemakers Expo is ClockArt. A variety of artists, including fine artists, designers, ceramicists, fashion designers and mosaic artists were invited to create a wall clock. The clocks will be displayed for the duration of the Expo, and visitors are invited to bid on their favourite piece. All funds raised will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, a community development organisation which builds homes for the previously disadvantaged.

Entrance for adults is R55, pensioners pay R35 and children younger than 12 enter free of charge. The Expo will be open from 10:00 to 20:00 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and from 10:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.
