Expert Says Many of South Africa’s Construction Injuries are not Reported

Warren Beech, legal expert at Routledge Modise law firm, believes South Africa has many unreported incidents of construction industry workplace injuries and deaths. This is largely due to an ineffective reporting system of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act. Currently The Department of Labour (DoL) pays a minimum of about R2.5-billion a year in compensation.
