Regulations that would make it compulsory for all new buildings to be designed to a standard that minimises energy use have been published for comment. It's anticipated that they will take effect before year end - are you ready?

Greeting to all Greenies,
I am a journalist commissioned to write regular articles on green issues specifically within the Built industry for facilities managers. I am looking for press releases, articles, comments, opinions and interesting people to interview for my research. Please contact me if you have something meaningful or interesting to contribute regarding design philosophies that affect the green image of a building as well as its user-friendliness. This could include space planning, material use, smart designs and occupational health and safety aspects. Email: mercedes@cadplan.co.za

Just a simple thought here...

Has anyone else found that "bosses" get woed by the sales talk for Revit, 3d modeling, BIM, fast drawings etc.. then get you onto the software, and expect you to produce drawings so much quicker than you could in Autocad.. Meaning.. You've been drawing on Autocad for 10 or 15 years and know what goes where etc.. then give you a quick 5 day inhouse course (not even at a qualified training facility) by some super duper Reviteer in the office, and expect that you can now produce drawings at the snap of a finger.. and when you struggle, complain complain complain.. and that after you've been using the Revit for only a short while??

Take nothing away from it. Revit is an awesome package and i enjoy it tremendously (with the exception of the new rendering engine and RCP plants)...

Having worked on several packages (Allycad, Caddie, MicroGDS, Revit & ArchiCAD) gives me a very good reference framework.. each has its own good and bad points.. but I've found there is no replacement for propper trianing and a good support system for any of these..

Maybe there should be some more done to educate management how the software work, and without propper training not to expect miracles at the push of a button..

your thoughts??

Hi guys.

Does anyone know if Revit or AutoCAD can import MicroGDS's MAN. drawing files, and if so is there an addon that i could use.

Visualization Suite - Exploration Day

Modena Design Centres is having a Free Discovery Workshop where you are able to come and see a free presentation on AutoCAD Revit Architecture Visualization Suite.

Modena Design Centres understands that the economy is tight and that your clients are hesitating to commit to projects. We have many clients that are making use of 3ds Max Design, in conjunction with Revit Architecture as a marketing tool to gain commitment from their clients, as well as draw potential business in.

One of our clients has made use of only 3 out of the 5 software packages in the Visualization Suite (3ds Max Design, Revit Architecture & AutoCAD). Click here to see how just these 2 software packages impacted their business

"Time invested in getting from design and concept stage to working drawing stage has been drastically cut, perhaps as much as 70% in our estimates. Revit has been proven to be an excellent package, with user understanding on the rise, and ease of drawing and model extraction has been very beneficial for importing to Max Design for quality renderings" - RAI, Jaco Howard

The details for the workshop are as follows:
Date: 9 July 09
Place: 10 Cambridge Road, Bryanston
Time: 09:00 - 11:00
Cost: Free

probably some parameter constraint.. move one thing this side.. something over there moves..

Then I guess pinning it is best...strange that they're moving by themselves tho...?...
