OPEN BIM™ is a unique approach to the collaborative design and realization of buildings allowing project members to participate regardless of the tools they use. In contrast to CLOSED (or “proprietary”) BIM the OPEN strategy offers great benefits to building professionals: . . .

Yeah, so no surprises there, no response from SACAP in the allotted time period.  How many other people sent in letters?  How many got a response?  Where to from now, the CIDB?

the alotted time for response to my letter expires early june somewhere as i sent it a little late.  i'm wondering what response i'll get, and if they even follow up (on the matters raised) with due diligence.

they got their payment by the due date (at the last day that is), but i made it clear that it was made under protest.

i also finally got confirmation this week about my cpd and reregistration, took them a sweet few months and losing info twice, nice.  my fees hard at work.

You got a response? I didn't. Only another warning that I'd be deregistered if I didn't pay the tithe by due date, even though I had already paid.

Still waiting to hear about my CPD accreditation that I also submitted before the due date in January.

Ah yes!  PERSEVERANCE  -  that's what we need!  A nice little spot - apparently the oldest pub in Cape Town!

And I'm glad to see you dispose your capitals appropriately.  yes, the other things are not very capital - more like 'capitalist'.

I notice that several architects wrote letters of compliant to sacap recently.  They even elicited a response:  " The matter is being attend to.   \* ...being attend to.   \* ...being attend to.   \* ...being attend to.   \* ...being attend to.   \* ...being attend to.   \* ...being attend to.   \* ..."

Who would be interested if 10 people got together to buy one SABS book and we photocopied another 9 ??

  1. cpd - is also another topic for discussion....( Did'nt feel like writing it in capitals either )
  2. sacap - another interesting debate on its own.....(Again I regret the feeling that induces me  therefore I don'nt  like writing it in capitals as well )
  3. HBEPG-deserves an applaud...clap clap clap...  Thanks Guys...
  4. recession - I still cannot spell it correctly..... Who needs our expertise anyway...Author : The unemployed Entripeneur.
  5. PERSEVERANCE ....This is what we all need lately...

Exactly the thing!

These bodies manage to become legislation, and then they use this opportunity to cash in, instead of focussing on the service they claim to provide!

Like our other friends: "The City works for you" .. Seriously why do they still put that on their letterheads..

Ah yes, the nhbrc! I found I can get the same insurance they offer (but never honour) against catastrophic structural failure in the first ten years, from my usual insurer, Glenrand, for a once-off premium of R2200, and thereafter an additional R66 per month on the normal homeowner's policy. On a project (land plus buildings) of R2m, the nhbrc registration cost would be R30 000, compared to R10 120 from an insurance company who would actually pay the claim.

Do the nhbrc allow this as an alternative? Well, no. Do they have a reason? Yes, the law let's them.
