_____________________WELCOME 2 THE 3D CRIT ROOM___________________________ Concept: This is a concept based on the crits we used 2have @ the studios: but since we work in isolation we don't get anymore, so this is that platform 2share ideas + opinions !
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aim: This is a platform for 3D artists to get professional crit from fellow 3D artists, about their renders in order to stretch our capabilities & set standards 4 South Africa 2 be proud of !
__3D Renders - It's Reality @ It's Best_______________So let's get the ball rolling, with those renders ! ___________
First of all, I wish to commend you for your enthusiastic and pro-active approach on this one. I really believe that the concept of having a "Crit Room" where Design Professionals can showcase their Renders, and in so doing, receive constructive criticism from fellow, perhaps more experienced Design Professionals is a great idea.
Like so many good ideas however, we need to make sure that this one does not die a death before it even gets off the ground.
So, as a positive step forward, I hereby present, for and on behalf of Karel Keuler from Karel Keuler Architects in the West Rand, a sample render for comment.
Just for the record, the 2D Construction drawings were prepared in Caddie, exported to SketchUp where the 3D Model was built, and finally rendered in Artlantis Studio.
I look forward to reviewing the input received from fellow Design Minders on this first Render.
The visual is looking good. I especially like the water. I'm not too clued up on this Artlantis programme. But it seems to produce a very "3D" ish look. I'm not sure if you can boost reflections but metals seem to come across more like grey surfaces than metal. Try add some specular to your metals to bring out some high lights. Another little trick I use is to chamfer all sharp edges. This again reduces that "3d" ish look with hard defined edges.
Artistically. The interior lights, try give a slight yellow/ orange tint to them (maybe not in the kitchen) this will warm up the parts of the image and create focal points. Try not to have every light in the hous on. Try just a few accent lights, to give you light and dark areas, At the moment it looks more like an office than a cosy home Also the sky, Try avoid plain black. Maybe add early evening clouds but again nothing too strong that destracts you from the reason for the image, the archtecture.
The design is well presented in this render:
- Eye focus is dominantly on the building & spaces
- Furniture, fittings & fixtures well laid out, not cluttering design
- Good overall color co-ordination ( not too sure about the reddish color though)
Few things I would look @
- the perspective looks a bit distorted ( especially around the outside benches)
- the 2nd palm tree seems 2b cut off (can't see it in between the reddish bars) would've bn added
- agree with ncjsmith, sky is too black (mayb a bit lighter with stars wud serve better)
- I feel the sofa colors are demanding too much attention. (mayb darker or earthly colors wud justify)
I agree with Miya The design presentetation i well thought of.
- my main concern is is the perspective distortion
- one can hardly see/read your materials on the outside of the building.-
- if the client asked you to use steel, i dont think he will be readind any steel on your building
-Try and make an effort when redering exterior building materails, some clients love to see what theye re going to bulid. you save time and changes.
I think u should speak to the bank! There is nothing more complete then to provide your clients with beautiful sketches & then progress to beautiful 3D images to finalize your design. It always certifies yo professional service as being both artistic & technological.
Why don't u put up yo sketches so we can appreciate yo talent&skill. Could be very interesting.
I will advice you not to think that you've got the best...But look at yourself as a beginner and also continue with your creativity........Nice Modeling, Rendering and nice creativity
My finished Rendering will soon be posted as 2010 package

* Furniture is well rendered ( is it objects or pictures?)
* The light balance between outdoor & indoor is quite good.
- Just a thought:One thing I'm so sure about is yo swimming pool ( it looks icey 2me?)
& the unit looks as if is quite high of the ground ( is it so?)
StLeon_Interior
* This on eis WOW! WOW! & WOW. This is absolute realistic
- Just a thought: I don't think the lights shud be on, on the concealed ceiling? I think a shadow would do much justice, especially since there is much daylight coming in.
Hi there i mostly design the interior of hotels in Africa and i must give a heads up to MB Designs they are furniture manufacturers whom has saved my but a couple of times. they have great quality and work fast when quoting and delivering. so all in…
