The butterfly-shape beauty and therapeutic pillow now a South African manufactured product:
Over the past 10 years I have come to sincerely appreciate this product for its value in reducing the aging of the facial skin, neck ache and breathing problems.
This is not a product that will be mass produced, simply because it is extremely labour intensive and each is hand crafted to produce the desired quality. If all the cutting, gluing and sculpting is done before-hand, one person can produce two complete units per day and it will therefore always be an exclusive product.
Although these pillows fit in a standard pillow slip, each pillow is supplied with one fitted pillow slip which could be used as a pattern to have slips made in the desired colour and fabric as required by each customer.
These pillows are currently manufactured in China only with a landed cost per unit of R890. Now interior designers & decorators are able to purchase directly from point of manufacture at R560 per unit, leaving an ample margin for profit.
Hi, yes I agree, build up a portfolio, use pictures from magazines, and try to recreate them in max. Buy some max books and work through them. Thats about it, it really depends on the amount of time you are willing to spend becoming a force to be reckoned with.....

Thanks for adding me a s your colleague.
Regarding relocating to Dubai. You need a strong portfolio as there are so many really talented guys from India Philippines etc that will work for peanuts. I deally you want to get involved with a arch viz studio. but can be tough. My suggestion would be build up your portie then get on some of the job websites here in Dubai.
Hope this helps mate and all the best.

Hi Jason,
thanks for the compliment.
yea, these posts are pretty rare nowadays.. especially if youd like to move into the architectural industry.. i would advise you to get famililar with other software (away from 3d visualization) such as revit or autocad. Architectural firms seem to appoint people whose skills vary and also when they are able to comprehend and read projects from the architects point of view.
most of my modeling is done in revit where I eventually import it into max for final rendering. But it is critical for me to have knowledge of revit as well.
If it wasnt for my draughting skills, interior design degree, and my knowledge of architectural software, i probably wouldnt have landed this job either ;)
Find a couple of architectural firms on google and keep sending your cv out. Emphasize your skills, include visual portfolio graphics and let them know youre eager to learn other software packages.
good luck!
If you're reading this its a good sign, i am a 3d artist looking for work in the architectural visualisation field... work of mine will be posted soon that i would appreciate any comments or suggestions on.
