Ah Van Aardt got you now! I have been asking for 8 years for you to run a course with all your knowledge. I can never claim to know all – if you recall my reaction at the end of the course in Leksand. I will die before I know all about colour.

Perhaps the lack of colour education in the built environment can be explained by the following passage taken out of Colour for Architecture Today by Tom Porter and Byron Mikellides available from NCS South Africa (lisa@ncscolour.co.za) or ordered o…

About Me / Us:
NCS is the understandable international colour order system for colour selection, specification, communication and the control of colour in design, architecture, research, marketing and manufacturing. It is based on how people see colour.

The logical colour notation system builds on how humans see colour; a notation represents a specific colour precept and describes the colour visually. It is not dependant on the limitations caused by pigments, light rays or nerve signals.

The Swedish government took the initiative on colour determination and classification in the 1950s and what has evolved is the NCS, which has become the international standard for colour classification. South Africa is compliant; the South African Standard (SANS 1091), which adopts NCS, was enabled in 2004. For additional information http://www.ncscolour.com

Corporate colour consultant and colour specialist Lisa Taylor was instrumental in the adoption of The NATURAL COLOUR SYSTEM (NCS) by national authorities. Since then she has converted various other public and private sector manufacturing and colour specifying bodies to the NCS because of the accuracy of its colour notation formulas and matching principles.

The meaning of red and green at Christmas ... and why Santa wears red

Ok so this has next to nothing to do with Christmas but its still colour!

Red and green mean it's Christmas time. These colors might not tell the story of divine birth, but they do tell a story of the Christian past.
Green, experts say, might be a throwback to the pagan winter festivals when greenery was used. Also, green comes from the pine tree and the holly, which retain their color in winter.
The meaning of red is open to debate. People speculate that red represents the blood of Christ. It… Continue

New Colour Navigator online.

NCS Navigator on www.ncscolour.com

Have a look at the – the new online colour design application based on NCS - Natural Color System®©

We are facing increasing challenges in their design processes. With shorter lead-times to develop ideas, pressure in hitting the market with exactly the right colour and also dealing with colour translations between software colours and physical colour samples. This is why we have developed a new online colour application for designers, architects, students an… Continue

Red made me do it.

What do we associate with different colours? Which colours appeal to us in certain associations? This is the questions everyone would love to have answered. Can pure colour research provide the answer?

Colour is such familiar constituent of our surrounding we often don’t give it a second thought, in spite of all vision being coloured vision. All surfaces being coloured. Colour is visual information and arouses emotions, thoughts and associations and often forces us to react.

Given the innumera… Continue

Colour Me Sincere

This is an entry on Haft2Know a newsletter for colour & business - I thought it was very interesting! Of cause we know Nokia wont be launching this option here as South African's don't like colour!

Texting is so wonderful.

Read that one way, and I'm a sarcastic jerk. Read it another, and I'm an earnest techophile.

Mere typed words can't convey subtext, but Nokia is looking to change that. The Fi… Continue
