June saw the exclusive Oyster Box in Umhlanga Rocks abuzz with activity as Edith Venter hosted the third Home Channel Décor & Design Morning sponsored by Plascon for 2011. This popular charity auction and fundraising event has become such a success that the organisers decided to take it to all corners of the country. The event not only gives guests the opportunity to engage with decor and design industry experts in sheer luxury, but also raises much needed funds for The Mercury Hibberdene Children’s Holiday Home.
“Décor is an important part of our lives. It is how we allow our personalities to come through in the spaces we live in. These mornings are a lot of fun and showcase speakers who really know their stuff. Guests have experienced both the sheer luxury of The Oyster Box, received advice on design and décor and have also made a difference by raising funds for a worthy cause,” says Edith Venter.
The Décor Morning – hosted in conjunction with Plascon and The Home Channel – saw Anne Roselt from Plascon talk about colour and colour trends for 2011, Kevin Joseph from The Oyster Box had everyone excited about food, Tanya Visser, host of The Gardener on The Home Channel, had garden enthusiasts jumping out their seats with excitement and finally Juliette Newell of The Home Channel’s Décor Made Simple, showed guests simple techniques to make your home look fabulous.
“Our speakers are well known and have an abundance of knowledge that they shared with our guests. We also had fantastic items on auction. The day was truly a success and everyone who attended had a good time,” says Edith.
Additional Information:
Anne Roselt is an international colour trend forecaster, colour therapist and Colour Manager for Plascon.
Kevin Joseph is a recent immigrant – from that other country, the Cape – and executive chef of The Oyster Box hotel. And what a champion of all things local he’s become. He’s worked all over the world, but now he seems entirely at home, celebrating locally-grown and gathered produce, re-inventing local classics, and generally working with other chefs to raise KZN’s food-tourism profile.
Juliet Newell is a South African actress, television presenter, corporate MC and motivational speaker best known for anchoring the e.tv breakfast show Morning Edition, from 2006-2007. She is currently a business news anchor on DStv's Summit channel and a presenter and producer of Designer Portraits and Décor Made Simple on The Home Channel.
Tanya Visser is a horticulturist, editor of The Gardener and Die Tuinier magazines and presenter of The Gardener Television Series. Her passion for gardening is a part of her personality. Not a day goes by without her appreciating the joy of nature and the role it plays in setting the stage for her to play out her dreams. She was recently nominated as Child Welfare South Africa’s Green Champion.
